Each UMARP component governs its own business data: customers and revenue, asset life cycles, fieldwork, meter readings or finance. GIS adds the location and network context needed to understand how those records relate to the physical system.

A pipe, valve, transformer or meter point has more than an asset number. It has a location, network connections and a service area. Field teams, customer service, asset managers and finance can therefore work from the same physical network model.
